# Official Website™ — Jaxx®®® Liberty Wallet™- Mintlify Starter Kit

> Rabby Wallet Extension provides a practical gateway to Web3, helping users interact with supported blockchain networks and …

Jaxx Liberty is no longer a viable wallet option. The wallet and its official website ceased operations in 2023, and any platform claiming to be Jaxx today is a scam designed to steal your funds. If you are searching for Jaxx Liberty, the most important thing to understand is that the brand is defunct, and the primary risk is not poor functionality—it is active phishing targeting former users.

**The Current Reality: Defunct and Dangerous**

Jaxx Liberty was once a popular multi-coin wallet developed by Canadian blockchain company Decentral, founded by Anthony Di Iorio. It launched in 2018 with ambitions to be an all-in-one interface for crypto, offering portfolio tracking, news feeds, and in-app exchanges. For years, it served users who wanted a simple, cross-platform wallet supporting dozens of assets. However, that era is over. Exodus, a legitimate wallet provider, explicitly states that Jaxx Liberty stopped being operational in 2023 and that "there are no official Jaxx wallets or websites".

The danger is acute. Scammers have created fake Jaxx websites and fake wallet apps that rank high in search results, preying on long-term users who return to check old balances or attempt to recover funds. These fraudulent platforms prompt you to enter your 12-word recovery phrase under the guise of "restoring" or "migrating" your wallet. Once entered, your funds are stolen instantly. Phishing domains targeting the Jaxx brand have been actively registered as recently as 2026, confirming that the threat is ongoing and evolving. Never enter your recovery phrase into any website claiming to be Jaxx. Never download any app claiming to be Jaxx.

**What to Do If You Have a Jaxx Recovery Phrase**

If you still hold the 12-word recovery phrase from an old Jaxx wallet and believe there may be funds associated with it, you can recover access using a legitimate, currently maintained wallet. Do not attempt this through any Jaxx-branded site. Instead, use a trusted wallet that supports importing a 12-word BIP39 phrase. Edge Wallet, for example, provides official instructions for importing Jaxx wallets, noting that you must select the non-SegWit version for Bitcoin, Dogecoin, and Litecoin, as Jaxx did not support SegWit. Exodus also states that users with a Jaxx secret key may be able to restore their wallet and access funds through its platform.

The critical caveat: importing your phrase creates a "clone" of the old wallet. Your funds are not moved, and the private keys remain the same as those exposed in the original Jaxx wallet. For maximum security, after importing, you should migrate your assets to entirely new wallets with fresh, never-exposed private keys. This requires paying on-chain transaction fees, but it is the only way to ensure that any prior exposure of your Jaxx phrase does not jeopardize your funds.

**Why Jaxx Failed and What It Means for You**

Jaxx Liberty's decline reflects a broader pattern in the crypto wallet space: wallets that do not maintain active development, security updates, and clear communication eventually become liabilities. Even during its operational years, Jaxx faced security criticism. In 2017, a user claimed to have lost \$400,000 due to a security flaw, and critics pointed to the wallet's closed-source design as a barrier to independent security auditing. While Jaxx offered convenience and broad asset support, it never achieved the security guarantees that modern self-custody wallets provide.

Today, the Jaxx brand exists only as a target for scammers. There is no team to contact, no support to reach, and no updates to install. If you encounter a website, app, or social media account promoting Jaxx Liberty, treat it as hostile. Your recovery phrase is the master key to your funds; it should only ever be entered into a wallet you have verified is legitimate and actively maintained. The safest path forward is to leave Jaxx behind entirely and secure your assets with a wallet that has a transparent, ongoing development and security track record.
